Events in Thailand today look to have cleared the way for flights to resume, meaning an end to the misery for thousands of stranded holidaymakers. But although demonstrators have said they will stop their protests in Bangkok, confusion remains over how long passengers must wait. With stringent security checks and a massive clean-up needed, one senior official has said planes won’t be taking tourists back home until the end of next week. Others however are more optimistic, with forecasts of some international departures as early as this Thursday.
