Kosovo releases German security agents

Three German men accused of throwing an explosive device at EU offices in Kosovo have been released.

The case attracted widespread attention after it was reported the trio worked for Germany’s secret service.

In Pristina, a panel of UN judges ruled there was no substantial evidence to continue holding the men.

‘‘All three Germans have been released from detention because they are innocent. They can now go back to their country,’‘ said the mens’ defence lawyer Adem Ademi.

Earlier, Germany, which has confirmed the three worked for its foreign intelligence service, said there was no case to answer and that the men should be released immediately.

The blast on November 14 at the building of the EU’s special representative in Kosovo caused material damage but no-one was hurt.
