With his key economic appointments made US President-elect Barack Obama is now focusing on other key posts in his incoming administration.

Setting America on the road to recovery from the financial crisis is the biggest challenge facing the new government.

Leading the economic team will be Timothy Geithner, who has been nominated for the key role of Treasury Secretary.

Obama has said the current President of the New York Federal Reserve Bank would bring “an unparalleled understanding of our current economic crisis” to the job.

The President-elect has also brought in a former Treasury Secretary. Lawrence Summers, who served in the last years of the Clinton administration, will head the National Economic Council. He has been an Obama advisor for several months.

Former US Senate leader Tom Daschle has been drafted in as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Reforms to US healthcare are expected to be a big issue for the Obama administration.

But the spotlight now is falling on Hillary Clinton as speculation mounts on her being named Secretary of State. Obama’s former presidency rival could be confirmed in the job on Friday.
