Holding his final talks with a Russian leader before leaving office, US President George W. Bush said he had worked hard to make it a “cordial relationship” despite difficult disagreements.
He met Dmitry Medvedev at an APEC summit in Lima against a backdrop of chilly relations after Russia’s war with Georgia and over US plans to base a missile defence system in Eastern Europe.
