The debate in this week’s Agora is between Jean Ping, president of the African Union Commission, and Louis Michel, the EU’s Development and Humanitarian Aid Commissioner.
Both agree Africa risks becoming the victim of a situation it has had no part in creating, and Europe would be very wrong to use the crisis as a reason to sideline a tormented continent of nearly a billion people.
