Nasa’s own version of “Extreme Makeover” is underway. The space shuttle Endeavour has docked with the International Space Station on a mission to dramatically improve the living quarters.

The ISS is 10 years old this year and the astronauts have outgrown their original pad.
Before the shuttle crew leaves it will have become a five-bedroom, two-bathroom orbiting residence with a new kitchen to boot.

Six spacemen and women, as opposed to the three at present, will be able to spend up to six months above the earth.

But with the shuttle programme now coming to an end, astronauts are to be forced to start recycling their own urine for drinking water. Nasa scientists insist it tastes almost as good as the real thing!
