New fast-moving wildfires have erupted in northern Los Angeles, and the city’s mayor fears they may cut power lines and force rolling blackouts. Fires are continuing to burn south of Santa Barbara, an area home to several tv and movie stars, including Oprah Whinfrey and Rob Lowe. Their homes are safe so far, but others have lost everything.

Hundreds of homes have been destroyed, including that of Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd. Rob Lowe described the scene near his house as ‘Armageddon.‘
