French anti-terror police are on the hunt for vandals after several attacks on France’s rail network. The search for the saboteurs comes after a high speed TGV train rammed two concrete blocks placed on rail lines late on Sunday evening. It’s the latest in a series of sabotage incidents to hit the French rail system.
France’s transport ministry says the TGV struck the concrete slabs near the Southern French town of Narbonne, suffering only light damage in the collision. On Saturday, several trains en route to the UK, Belgium, and across France experienced severe delays after vandals snagged overhead electric cables.
The vandalism has caused widespread chaos across France with thousands of passengers suffering delays and cancellations over the weekend. Authorities have not excluded the possibility that the deliberate acts are part of a coordinated campaign.
