McCain hopes Virginia stays Republican

world news

| |

Republican John McCain has taken his last-minute campaign blitz to Virginia. This is a state that has not gone Democratic in a presidential election since 1964.

He said: “If I am elected president, I will not spend nearly a trillion dollars more of your money. Senator Obama will. And he cannot do that without raising your taxes or digging us further into debt. I am going to make government live on a budget, just like you do.”

But McCain knows that here in Virginia the trend has been towards the Democrats in recent state elections.

More than 20 million people have already cast their ballots, with more than 30 states allowing early voting.

It is expected that a third of voters will have cast their ballots before election day.
