Obama to unveil running mate today

world news

| |

The guessing game continues for just a few more hours as the world waits to learn who Barack Obama has chosen as his running mate for the US presidential election. He has said he has made up his mind and has reportedly been contacting the unsuccessful candidates on the short list to let them know.

Some time today the Obama campaign will unveil his choice via a text message to those who have registered with his web site. He is expected to appear with the ‘chosen one’ at an event in Springfiled, Illinois. An American network has claimed two of the main contenders, Indiana Senator Evan Bayh and Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, have been told they are out of the race.

Obama’s Republican rival, Senator John McCain, has also yet to select his running mate. The pair are neck and neck in the polls and their choice for the vice presidency could have a big impact on the outcome.
