Britain’s Labour Party loses another election

Scottish nationalists have dealt Britain’s ruling Labour Party another election defeat.

The Scottish National Party’s John Mason overturned a 13,000 Labour majority to win the Glasgow East by-election. He beat Labour’s Margaret Curran by 365 votes.

“This SNP victory is not just a political earthquake, it is off the Richter Scale,” said Mason. “It is an epic win, and the tremors are being felt all the way to the seat of government in Westminster.”

Prime Minister Gordon Brown stayed away from his Scottish homeland in favour of a diary event in London. The writing was already on the wall in the traditional Labour stronghold. Brown’s popularity is at an all time low. This latest defeat is only expected to increase calls for him to step down as leader.
