At least, three-quarters of the arch-bishops and bishops were there. Some 230 of them have boycotted the once-in-a-decade summit, angry over the ordination of the Church’s first ever openly gay bishop.

Conservatives in the Anglican communion are furious over what they call the ‘false gospel’ of sexual immorality.

And in the Church of England itself, the Archbishop of Canterbury is facing another battle over plans to ordain women as bishops.
