South African President Thabo Mbeki met Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe in Harare to try to bring an end to the political crisis in the country. The leader of the main opposition Movement for Democratic Change, Morgan Tsvangirai, refused to meet Mbeki and Mugabe. The MDC say they will talk to Mugabe as Zanu PF leader but not as Head of State.
Meanwhile the British newspaper the Guardian has obtained video secretly shot by prison guard Shepherd Yuda, which shows the alleged vote rigging that took place ahead of the June 27 presidential run-off in which Mugabe stood unchallenged.
The tape pictures prison staff being told by a war veteran how to fill out their ballot papers in favour of Robert Mugabe.
