A distinguished guest has attended one of Europe’s biggest Gay Pride parades today. 95-year old Rudolf Brazda is thought to be the last surviving homosexual to have been sent to nazi concentration camps under the Third Reich.

After laying a wreath at a monument in Berlin, Brazda joined an estimated half a million people in the streets of the German capital, for a far less solemn tribute to the love that may now dare to speak its name.

There were, however, some disturbances at the first ever Gay Pride parade to be held in the Czech Republic. Police arrested three people in the city of Brno, after anti-homosexual activists threw firecrackers at those taking part in the parade. Two counter-marches led by extreme-right parties were banned by local authorities.

Meanwhile, 60 arrests were made at Bulgaria’s first Pride parade after extreme right-wing groups threw a petrol bomb at around 100 homosexual revellers who had turned out in Sofia.
