Voting has been slow in today’s Zimbabwean run-off election, which has been dismissed by the EU as a “sham.”

President Robert Mugabe is certain to win another term as he is the only standing candidate.

The international community has rejected the legitimacy of his victory in advance.

At a meeting of G8 leaders in Japan, Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said he will ask the next EU president, France, to start talks on recalling all the bloc’s ambassadors from Zimbabwe.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says she will push for more sanctions from the UN.

Those election observers that have been allowed into Zimbabwe have reported a low turn-out despite reports of government militia going door-to-door and forcing people to vote.

The name of opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai remains on the ballot.

Tsvangirai claims that up to 90 of his supporters have been killed and some 10,000 injured in the campaign.

He withdrew from the election on Sunday, saying he didn’t want to endanger the lives of any more.
