The name could not have been more appropriate: Hillary Clinton has decided to join her former rival Barack Obama for a trip to the New Hampshire town of Unity. It is their first public rally since she pulled out of the race to become the Democrats’ candidate for the US presidential election in November.

The meeting is widely seen as an opportunity for party members to come together after a divisive contest. Clinton has fully endorsed Obama since conceding defeat on June 7.

According to recent opinion polls, time has helped heal some rifts, with Obama having won over more than half of Clinton’s former supporters. However, more than one in five say their allegiance now goes to Republican John McCain.
