Zimbabwean opposition leader Morgan Tsvangerai has taken refuge in the Dutch embassy in the capital Harare, amid the continued arrests of his supporters.

Tsvangerai’s MDC party says armed police have arrested 60 of its followers today, including women and children seeking refuge from political violence.

Yesterday Tsvangerai dropped out of the election run-off, he claims in order to avoid further endangering the lives of his supporters.
