A vicious attack by a man armed with a knife in Japan has left seven Sunday shoppers dead and more than a dozen injured.

The 25-year-old attacker drove a rented truck into a crowd of pedestrians in the popular Akihibara district of Tokyo.

He then got out and stabbed to death one man he had run over, before walking down the street, shouting, and stabbing and slashing people at random.

When he was arrested by an armed policemen he apparently told him he was “tired of life” and was out to kill as many people as possible.

His victims were treated where they fell. Six of the dead were men aged 19 to 74. He also killed a 21-year-old woman.
