Turkey’s ruling AKP is fighting for its political future after the country’s constitutional court threw out a pro-Muslim law on headscarves.

The government’s support for such religious freedom could spell its downfall. The AKP has been holding an emergency meeting on the possible consequences of the court’s ruling.

Prime Minister Reccep Tayyip Erdogan pushed for women to be allowed to keep the veil on while attending classes at university, despite existing accusations against him of anti-secular leanings.

Now the Turkish media is speculating on another general election.
