Presidential couple vote in Argentina’s election

Argentina’s First Lady has cast her vote in the presidential election which she is widely expected to win. Christina Fernandez de Kirchner is seeking to take over Argentina’s “Pink Palace” as her husband steps down.

She has made no secret of being her husband’s top advisor during his four-year term.

Many Argentinians credit President Nestor Kirchner, and, by association, her, with pulling the country out of its economic crisis caused by the free market policies of the 1990’s.

He’s said to have created jobs, and increased salaries and pension benefits.

But it has been a lackluster campaign with no candidate debates and no concrete policies from the frontrunner, or the two centre-left candidates trailing in her wake.

However with voting obligatory in Argentina at least a high turnout is guaranteed.

The first results will be known after midnight central european time.
