In a new audio tape, Osama bin Laden has urged Pakistanis to overthrow their president. The al Qaeda leader vows retaliation against Pervez Musharraf for the storming of the radical Red Mosque in Islamabad and the killing of a rebel cleric. The message on the Internet, whose authenticity could not be immediately verified, was accompanied by previously-released footage of bin Laden.

In a stepped-up propaganda campaign, a video was also released today featuring al Qaeda’s number two. Ayman al-Zawahri called on Muslims to fight the US and its allies. He urged North Africa’s Muslims to “cleanse” their land of Spaniards and French and echoed calls for revenge over July’s Red Mosque raid.
