Chavez, Morales and Kirchner bolster economic ties

Bolivian President Evo Morales welcomes Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who is on a four-country regional tour. Chavez has been at work strengthening economic ties with energy rich allies Bolivia and Ecuador and vital energy consumer Argentina. Morales, Chavez and Argentine President Nestor Kirchner came together in Tarija, Bolivia’s natural gas capital, to sign a deal finalising a 330 million euro project to build a gas seperation plant in southern Bolivia close to the Argentine border.
Meanwhile Bolivia and Venezuela have agreed to form a joint venture to explore for natural gas in Bolivia, the country with the second largest reserves in South America, to be financed by Venezuelan Oil. Its all part of a grand South American alliance to stand up to US influence.
