United Nations envoy Martti Ahtisaari has been in Vienna for a meeting of Serbian and ethnic Albanian leaders to discuss the future of Kosovo. However the former Finnish president conceded that both sides remain diametrically opposed to his blueprint for the UN-run province.

Ahtisaari has invited the leaders of both sides to attend a final meeting on March 10 before he puts his plan- which essentially offers Kosovo a path to independence under the supervision of the European Union- to the UN Security Council.
