Ford has reached a deal on pay and conditions at its plant in Russia. The agreement means there will be no repeat of last month’s one-day strike at the plant, near St Petersburg.

Ford says a collective agreement reached with the 2,000 production workers includes a wage increase of 14% to 20% and other unspecified improvements in conditions.

Monthly wages at the plant average between 377 and 550 euros, above the average national salary.

The factory, one of the biggest in Russia owned by a foreign carmaker, produced 60,000 vehicles last year, almost all of them the Ford Focus to supply the strong demand in Russia for foreign vehicles. Output is planned to be increased this year to 75,000 cars.
