European leaders are mulling over the outcome of Serbia’s general election in which hardline nationalists emerged as the largest party. But pro-European groups are still well placed to form a ruling coalition.

The result has not been confirmed yet but the Radical Party is credited with 28 and a half per cent of the vote. The Democratic Party of President Boris Tadic doubled its vote but secured just under 23 percent. Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica’s Democratic Party of Serbia came third.
