Albanians ignore Serbian election results

world news

Most people on the streets of Pristina believe the result of the parliamentary elections will have no bearing on what may or not happen in Kosovo. The mostly-ethnic Albanian region is legally a province of Serbia but is under UN administration.

“They have there elections we have ours, and the international community has almost made up its mind about Kosovo’s status,” said security worker Agim Aliu.

Sentiments shared by another man who said “they were elections in another country and they won’t affect Kosovo’s final status.”

Next month, the UN’s chief envoy for the province is expected to recommend some form of independence – something the Serb Nationalists vehemently opposes.
