The man accused of murdering five prostitutes in Britain has been remanded in custody after appearing in court. Steven Wright, who is 48, will reappear on May 1 to enter a formal plea of guilty or not guilty. Wright, a truck driver and reportedly a former steward on a luxury cruise ship was arrested a week before Christmas. He is charged with the murders of Gemma Adams, Tania Nicol, Anneli Alderton, Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls. Their naked bodies were found dumped over an 11-day period around Ipswich in eastern England. Detectives launched the murder hunt on December 2 when Gemma Adams’ body was found in a stream. Another man arrested in connection with the inquiry has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
