Israel-Lebanon war captives may be dead

world news

The two Israeli soldiers whose capture triggered a month-long war may be dead, according to Israel. The soldiers were part of a patrol operating on the Israeli-Lebanon border in July when they were attacked by Hezbollah forces. Three members of the patrol were killed, the remaining two captured. A report kept secret until now states that evidence such as bloodstains and blast damage indicated that one was critically wounded, the other severely wounded. They would have needed immediate medical attention in order to survive, the report says. The soldiers’ capture triggered a massive air and ground offensive on Lebanon by Israel. Hezbollah responded by firing more than 4,000 rockets into Israel. The conflict raged for 34-days, but failed to recover either of the captured Israeli reservists.
