Theres to be no Iraq War enquiry, at least in the short term, as the British parliament votes no. The Labour government has defeated an opposition party motion to hold an immediate enquiry into the condut of the Iraq War. However the governments margin of just 25 votes showed that there was considerable concern among parliamentarians about Britains involvement.

The three hour debate which preceded the vote was vigorous and often passionate. But in the end the government prevailed, saying an enquiry now would inevitably prejudice the position of all those servfing in Iraq.
