The Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, has promised to meet the Palestinian Authority President, Mahmoud Abbas, to revive the Middle East peace process. The pledge came when the Israeli leader welcomed British premier Tony Blair in Jerusalem. Olmert did not say whether the proposed talks with the Palestinian leader were dependent on the freeing of the Israeli soldier who is being held by Hizbollah in Lebanon. He praised Blair for working actively for stability in the Middle East.
