US actor Glenn Ford has died at the age of 90. His career began in 1939, but his first big budget hit came when he teamed up with Rita Hayworth in “Gilda” seven years later. In a career spanning more than half a century, he appeared in over 200 films. Ford was born in Canada in 1916 and moved to California when he was seven years old. Best known for his roles in films like “Gilda” and “The Big Heat,” he won the hearts of millions of cinema-lovers around the world. Although he never made it to the superstar status he hoped for, fellow actors have described their colleague as one of the cornerstones of the silver screen.
