world news

Lebanon’s prime minister has renewed his demand for a quick ceasefire with Israel. Fouad Siniora’s comments came during an emergency meeting in Beirut of Arab foreign ministers. He choked with emotion as he described his people’s suffering. Siniora struggled to hold back his tears as he urged Arab countries to help bring an end to the war which he said had killed about 1,000 people and displaced more than a million others. Siniora also went on to call for an immediate withdrawal of Israeli troops from south Lebanon and an exchange of prisoners.
