Israeli war machine rumbles on

world news

| |

There has been no let up in Israeli attacks on Lebanon. Around 40 people were feared killed when air strikes destroyed several houses in the south Lebanese border village of Houla. But Lebanon’s prime minister later revised the figure saying that one person was dead. At least 50 others are reported to have been pulled from the rubble.

Israeli aircraft have also hit the last coast crossing on the Litani river between Sidon and Tyre, completely cutting off the main route for humanitarian relief to civilians in the south. Attacks elsewhere in the Bekaa valley claimed more than 20 lives. But that figure may increase with rescuers struggling to reach areas isolated by Israeli bombing. Israel has also warned residents in south Lebanon to stay indoors after 10pm local time. Meanwhile, Lebanon’s army has called up thousands of reservists for possible deployment.
