Three months after it was opened up fully to the public, the Internet domain suffix ‘dot-eu’ has passed the two million mark.
It is still behind ‘dot-uk’ and ‘dot-de’ (Germany).
And well short of ‘dot-com’ which is the top of the top, at 50 million.
Still, ‘dot-eu’ is the world seventh, according to EURid, the organistation in charge of managing registration of the suffix.
Holders of prior rights to a name got first grabs in the four months up till 7th April;
Now, anyone based in the European Union can register a .eu domain name as long as it is available.
