Indonesia earthquake deaths over 3000

The death toll in the Indonesian earthquake has risen to over 3000. Thousands more are injured. The tremor measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale flattened hundreds of buildings. The worst devastation was in Bantul about 25 kilometers from Yogyakarta in central Java. Medical staff at a hospital worked outside because of fears the building might collapse. The international community has been quick to respond to an appeal for aid, numerous countries are sending help including France, Italy, Russia as well as the United Nations.
