Britain’s Foreign Minister and the US Secretary of State have arrived in Iraq on a surprise visit. The pair travelled from Jack Straw’s Blackburn constituency where he hosted Condoleezza Rice’s two-day trip. They are meeting the Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari and President Jalal Talabani. The visits come as Iraqi politicians struggle to form a government of national unity which has been blocked by Jaafari’s refusal to heed growing calls to step down.
