Hearings in Glitter trial end

world news

| |

Hearings in the sex abuse trial of former glam rock star Gary Glitter have ended. He will find out his fate tomorrow. If found guilty he could face up to seven years in jail. Glitter has denied accusations of molesting two girls below the age of consent. He says he was just teaching them English at his beachfront villa in southern Vietnam. He was arrested while trying to leave the country in November.

A Vietnamese prison cell would be a very far cry from his chart-topping days in the 1970’s, when he was known as much for his outrageous clothes as for his rock anthems. A comeback in the 1990’s was cut short by the discovery of child pornography on his computer.
