Mozart remembered – 250 years on

The Austrian city of Salzburg celebrates its most famous son. It is 250 years to the day that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born – and locals are leading the way to mark the occassion. A series of concerts, exhibitions, lectures and even street parties are being held. In fact Salzburg is due to become transformed into a huge open air stage.

Worldwide, the child prodigy who became the greatest composer of the classical age will be remembered. But it is not music all the way – chocolates, thimbles and tea towels are just some of the souvenirs available to mark the maestro. Mozart, the genius who died in poverty, is today making a mint for others.
