EP Investigating the CIA

Parliament is set to approve this Thursday who will sit on a cross-party committee to analyse allegations about the United States Central Intelligence Agency.

Washington has remained non-committal about the reports first made by the Washington Post in November that prisoners were transported through and illegally detained in EU countries.

The 46 MEPs will also examine whether European governments knew about these alleged practices – and if EU citizens have been involved.

The MEPs will coordinate with the Council of Europe, the Commission, the UN and national parliaments.

Romania, Poland and others have denied any complicity with the U.S. in holding terrorism suspects on their territory.
