Prince Albert of Monaco has been officially enthroned in an emotional ceremony in the tiny principality. Representatives of 15 countries attended the event. Thousands of Monegasque people gathered in front of the palace to greet their prince. There were tearful moments for the prince and his sisters, princesses Caroline and Stephanie, during mass in Monaco’s St Charles cathedral.
The archbishop of Monaco, Monseigneur Barsi, spoke of the legacy left by their father prince Rainier who died in April. Prince Albert is expected to bring a different and more relaxed style to his rule over the principality. He is known for his involvement in world development issues, in sport and for his concern about the environment.
