Demonstrators are blockading the UK home of the Trident nuclear submarine at the Faslane naval base on the Clyde, in the west of Scotland.

Protest organisers say they aim to highlight links between militarisation, war and world poverty, ahead of the G8 summit at Gleneagles in Scotland later this week. There is a heavy police presence at the naval base, where some protestors are reported to have chained themselves together. It is thought police arrested one demonstrator who tried to scale the fence at the base.
